How much credit card data should you keep?
There is a need to know: how much credit card data should you keep so that at a later date, you can look up your credit card payment history. What we need is the last 2 years' worth of credit card spending data.
> What information should be kept about which card family you have?
So far, we are checking for your national ID’s details. Also, to find the credit cards that belong to you as well.
> Question 2 How should we store your credit card data?
Now, you have all your personal data. Your personal data is what we require to process future credit card purchases.
> Which type of data do we need?
We need to have data that represent purchases from a certain debit card company. We will be storing it in a database. Each debit card will have an ID number and the current credit card issued to them so that we don’t forget any IDs that we have already requested.
> You are trained correctly to keep the current credit card ID?
The current number would be required for verification when you are registering for a new credit card and for purchases. If you lost your current card then the credit card would be reissued.
> So you want the current ID?
So now the data would be stored in the original card’s ID number and the current credit card will be reissued to you.
> Question 3 How should we handle the ID?
Since we’re processing this ID to store the information about the cards, we want to manage it properly.
> How long should we store it?
Usually, if you are registering or going to buy a credit card from an online bank you would look at the release date of the card. If you shop for a credit card we wouldn’t want any tampering with it. We’ll store it until you verify or reorder it.
> We already know this information?
For now, we’re taking it in until we verify it again. When it’s done we can throw it away. If we’re ready, it can be kept in the database for future verification.
> How will we store this data?
So now we’re in with data.
> Question 4 What do we store in the database?
If you’re using the Internet, you might have noticed that your address was entered into the email you sent about entering into the coupon code of that credit card website. It will be stored in a database.
> Will we be able to see your financial history?
Yes, we will see the last two years of your financial history.
> What if you edit the data?
We are setting a copy of this data, so we can confirm if we’re making any changes by revising the data in the database.
> What are the parameters of our data?
We are taking the credit card name, ID, and current credit card as parameters.
> We forgot that?
We’re in a sense forgetting that we’re storing this data, but we’re storing it for later use.
> Which kinds of data should be saved?
Since we’re verifying the ID and making any changes to it, we’ll be saving only credit card purchases and the current credit card. It’s easier to look up credit card history once you’re able to pay your bill.
